Theory I have seen before

Last Semester I took a math unit which introduced me to the Problem Based Learning approach. I  really like this approach to teaching, because it presents students with a challenging problem to motivate them which should be genuinely interesting to them. This problem allows the teacher to then facilitate the learning of new knowledge and skills by directing students to resources and utilising students prior knowledge to come up with a solution for the problem.

This approach would work nicely in this course, as different ICTs would be a great way for students  solve their problem. Working in groups is an important aspect of this approach and the teacher as the facilitator is also important. Therefore teaching students how to use ICTs to solve the problem in groups is a perfect example of this approach to teaching.

The problem could be anything from students needing to create an end product or find out a new piece of information but whatever the problem you come up with, the students then have  the opportunity to use multiple technologies to solve their problem.
